This week started with a bang thanks to the Shift Performance track day held on Monday at Wakefield Park. Previously this event was known as the ‘Honda vs. Everyone’ meet, but this time around saw the introduction of  ‘N/A vs. TURBO’ racing.

The line up for the day was forever changing – at one stage even including an F430 Scuderia and several other exotics. But with the final line up a complete mystery, The Lowdown left bright and early on the road out to Goulburn.

After an hour and a half behind the wheel we just made the craved McDonalds stop with only minutes left on the breakfast menu. Once we were back on our way and making the final descent into Wakefield Park, it wasn’t long before the sight of the track’s tarmac greeted us.

The turnout of cars was fantastic. A huge variety of makes and models showed up and both the turbocharged and naturally aspirated sides were well represented on the day.

As usual the typical Wakefield weather plagued the morning sessions with on and off rain, which only made for more action as a spectator!

The quickest time was laid down by the Peak Performance E36 BMW M3. It ran a 1:07.9 – a considerably quick time given the weather conditions.

All in all the ever-changing weather conditions made for an enjoyable day’s viewing. Drivers had their skills tested and pushed the boundaries with every ounce of their abilities.

The official NatSoft timing from the event can be viewed here. Big thanks to Shift Performance for throwing a well organized and executed event.
