With the Geneva Motor Show only around the corner, McLaren has decided to give us a little taste of what to expect from them; the track-dedicated 740kW McLaren P1 GTR.
For most, a standard McLaren P1 is enough of a car, but the GTR is 80mm wider than its road-going sibling with a much more aggressive front splitter, 50mm lower with centre-locking 19-inch alloy wheels.
The livery pays homage to the yellow and green McLaren F1 GTR, chassis #06R, which has claimed its own place in history as one of the five F1 GTR’s that dominated the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the historic debut by McLaren 20 years ago (Yes, 20 years ago!)
The McLaren P1 GTR still retains the 3.8 litre twin-turbo V8 with an enhanced lightweight electric motor. Combined, these two generate over 740kW! The aerodynamics have not been forgotten with the GTR retaining the DRS (Drag Reduction System) whilst increasing the height of the wing an extra 100mm to add a whopping 10% increase in downforce, 660kg at 240kph.
The McLaren P1 GTR will make its global debut alongside the recently announced McLaren 675LT on the 3rd of March 2015 at the 85th International Geneva Motor Show.
