WTAC has concluded for 2011, and the reigning champs, Sun Racing, with the CyberEvo have emerged victorious and retained the crown! The last two days of racing have set a new standard for time attack events in Australia. We were thrilled to see Eiji “Tarzan” Yamada and the CyberEvo team take out overall victory at Eastern Creek with the quickest lap time of 1’28.851s!

The American Sierra Sierra race team looked to have it in the bag for most of the day after turning in a very competitive 1’29.024s early in the day. But Tarzan was firing on all cylinders when the afternoon sessions hit, and came through with the first and only 1’28s lap we’ve seen at WTAC, almost two seconds quicker than their winning time from last year!

Credit must be given to the whole Pro Class division, as times overall were significantly faster across the board compared to last year. A huge crowd rolled in to spectate today, so we can only hope that the event was a success for the organisers, and we’ll see another heated battle next year.

After the dust has settled we will bring you a more thorough look at the 2011 World Time Attack Challenge. For now, we’re off to recuperate and soak up what was one enthralling two days of motorsport!
