Ralph Lauren has a passion and obsession with luxury cars. His own personal collection includes the likes of rare Ferraris to a 1957 Jaguar XKSS, a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Alloy Gullwing, a 1934 Bugatti Type 59 and a 1938 Type 57SC Atlantic Coupe just to name a few.
It’s no surprise then that the 1938 Type 57SC from his collection has been used as inspiration in his latest timepiece creation, known as the Skeleton Automotive Watch.
The new model from the designer is highlighted by a display encircled with Amboyna burl wool, which is commonly used in instrument panels of high-end vehicles.
Just like an open bonnet, the manually wound open caliber movement is completed with black oxidised hands. The plate and bridges are finished in black, while the strap is black leather.
Built by hand just like classic cars, the watch is available now at a cool $35,000 USD, only a fraction of the $40 million price tag on the 1938 Bugatti.
