600HP SUPRA / IN COLLABORATION WITH ULTRACE / WORDS: SHOMIT GHOSH
ELEVATED ICON
The way that automotive enthusiasts have gravitated around the MK4 Toyota Supra is second to none – a phenomenon that has only seen tremendous growth over its two decades of existence, and there seems to be no end in sight for this automotive giant (and we’re not mad about it).
It only takes one glance to see that Mateusz’s Supra kicks things up by about a thousand notches. It’s not really a surprise, then, that his build was selected as one of the winners of the TOP16 at Ultrace 2023 – an accomplishment driven by ambition, an eye for detail, and a lot of hard work.

ROAD TO SUPRA
With the MK4, Toyota seriously beefed up the Supra by introducing the legendary 2JZ-GTE engine and an iconic design, one that continues to age like fine wine.
Couple this with the widespread fame that followed the release of The Fast and The Furious, and you end up with a car that inspires a generation of enthusiasts and lands itself on the automotive wall of fame.
Taking a step back from the Supra, Mateusz’s automotive journey started at a very young age – influenced by his grandpa’s love for cars and the NFS and Fast & Furious franchises, Mateusz started dreaming about building a “true street project”. After moving from Poland to the UK at just 19, Mateusz built up a 2004 Honda Civic EP between 2015 and 2018 that featured impressive visuals and a ‘Frankenstein’ K24 that pushed out a solid 270HP/201KW.
However, it was his friend, Maciek, and a test drive in his Nissan R33 Skyline that convinced Mateusz to make the jump from the Civic to the mighty Supra.
“THE FACT THAT IT WAS A REAR WHEEL DRIVE CAR WITH SUCH A HISTORY, TARGA TOP & LSD MADE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH IT INSTANTLY.”

METAMORPHOSIS
The Supra Mateusz purchased back in 2018 is not the Supra you see today. Much like the idea behind the ship of Theseus, practically every single part was upgraded during this build which has required more than 2000 hours of labour.
This MK4 started out in life as the naturally aspirated, automatic version of the Supra that put out a respectable 228HP/170KW. Now, however, the transformed MK4 gives the driver the ability to unleash 600 raging horses with the press of a pedal.
The stock MK4 is already a very pretty thing to look at, but Mateusz’s vision and eye for detail have produced a JDM masterpiece, solidifying it as a truly unique build that drops jaws from every angle.

SPECIAL THANKS

2JZ BLISS
Let’s talk performance. There’s lots of it.
Mateusz’s MK4 builds on the incredibly versatile 2JZ-GTE, an engine that was overbuilt by Toyota – this means that it can handle levels of power that go far beyond the factory setup.
Combining the 2JZ with a Basic Power Upgrade and a single turbo resulted in a power output of just over 600HP/450KW. This power is channelled to the ground via a six-speed manual gearbox borrowed from the BMW E46 M3, another icon.
This sheer power is matched by the build’s equally impressive aesthetics – a culmination of endless planning anchored by Mateusz’s end goal: “Clean, Carbon Fibre, Titanium”.
ONE OF ONE
Mateusz’s theme pretty much sums up this spectacular build: “Clean, Carbon Fibre, Titanium”. Every bolt on the car is made out of titanium, and all interior plastics were replaced with carbon fibre. The exterior is fitted with a Ridox body kit by Varis in the, now discontinued, carbon variant.
The carbon fibre extends onto the massive APR GT500 wing that keeps this Supra from flying into space. The rear also features a very special exhaust – the only Ridox titanium exhaust that was exported out of Japan.
If you think all that is special (which it is), the custom Nismo LMGT2 wheels that give this MK4 a distinctly aggressive stance required hundreds of hours of work, as it meant that the Supra needed a custom one-of-one suspension system to fit them in – such that “not a single OEM component is left”.

MODIFICATION LIST
The absolute dedication to building something that is genuinely going to be “remembered” in the scene for years to come is clearly reflected in this elegantly executed transformation of an already iconic piece of automotive history.
Of course, a build like this requires a team effort and for that, Mateusz would like to thank his wife and family for their support throughout the build. This build also would not have been possible without Marcin, Dawid, and the rest of the guys at Supra Workshop.
