A 918 Spyder is coming to Porsche Centre Willoughby


Porsche has a new supercar, a new mid-engined plug-in hybrid supercar; the Porsche 918 Spyder and it’s coming to Porsche Centre Willoughby.

Designed by Michael Mauer (Chief Designer at Porsche), the 918 Spyder is powered by a 4.6 litre V8 engine that pumps 453 kW, with two electric motors delivering an extra 208 kW for a combined output of 661 kW and 1,275 NM of torque with a top speed of 340 km/h.

Porsche were claiming performance figures of 0 – 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds before the engineering design was even finlaised, funnily enough when Car and Driver tested the 918 for these claims, the car actually managed a 0 – 100 km/h time in 2.2 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than Porsche originally claimed.

As the model is called the 918, production has been limited for this supercar to exactly 918 units. At a starting price of $845,000 USD ($1,100,000 AUD), the 918 unit target has already been hit with no news on any of these being to Australian owners. It’s no surprise that most orders went to the United States (297 units), followed by China and Germany with 100 orders each.
