SNAPSHOTS: PORSCHE TYPE 991 GT3 CUP CAR

- Words: Michael Zomaya. Photos: Sebastian Voll.

We all dread the infamous Monday mornings, it marks the beginning of a working week and for most, the hardest day to get through. Unbeknowingly, we stumbled across something that didn’t only get us through Monday, but rather the entire week; it was none other than the Porsche Cars Australia 911 GT3 Cup training.

CULTURE: WHERE DID IT ALL BEGIN?

- Words: Jason Hanif. Photos: MJ Digital.

Remember the days of spontaneity? Firstly, no this isn’t an intervention. If you’re one of our older generation readers here at T-LD then you’ll remember the impromptu decisions in your youth which led to an excessive amount of funds poured into cars and modifications, some of which may have been unnecessary, although in hindsight it may have provided a valuable learning curve. Recently, this got us thinking, what if you had a cheat sheet? If you could go back and re-write the path, what would you do differently when modifying your car?

EVENT: CIRCUIT CLUB 10TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR

- Words: Narada Kudinar. Photos: Berty.

This year, Circuit Club was turning 10 years old, and we wanted to do something really special to celebrate – the question was what would we do? Well, we love cars, really love driving and are absolutely fanatical about racing – so it was decided – we must hold a track day at the Nurburgring. After months of planning, 19 of us were lucky enough to be able to head over to Europe, via Dubai, and have what was possibly the most crazy motorsport adventure we had ever been on.

BUILD: HEASMAN STEERING S14

- Words: Ryan Lewis. Photos: Kory Leung.

Ask any race driver who is worth their salt and they’ll tell you the same thing: what happens on race day is only a fraction of the full story. Whether your car is a fresh build or a seasoned veteran, there is a process to adhere to before every major event. For most it’s a sequence of late nights, early mornings, energy drinks and problem-solving. At the end of all that there’s still a good chance that something will go wrong with the car you’re loading up, but that’s all part of what makes racing such an adventure. Between the expert techs at Heasman Steering they have spent years at the track, so it’s safe to say they arrived a little more prepared than most. Now that the World Time Attack Challenge has wrapped up we thought we’d speak with Brad from Heasman’s to see how things panned out with their S14 Silvia.

WORKSHOP: JUST ENGINE MANAGEMENT

– Words: Ryan Lewis. Photos: MJ Digital.

For any business it’s important to maintain a good reputation when you’re dealing with things as wildly variable and personal as cars. It takes time, it takes consistent quality and it takes innovation to separate yourself. When the topic of Sydney workshops comes up within import circles, the same few names always seem to get a mention. Some of them have had their image dragged through the dirt over the years, some have seemingly appeared overnight and are yet to prove themselves, and just a select few have managed to establish themselves as leaders in the field for years. One workshop from the latter bunch is Just Engine Management; a tuning house with legions of loyal followers, world-class builds and results that speak for themselves.

FEATURE: ROYAL OCEAN RWB PORSCHE

- Words: Ryan Lewis. Photos: Marcel Lech.

It often amazes me how small the world has become. There are car fanatics everywhere, yet even those in the most far flung corners of the earth know what’s going on when it comes to trends in car modification. While major styling influences are consistent more or less worldwide, every community tends to interpret them in their own way and establish their own fads. Then every so often something comes along and sweeps the global car community off its feet. A couple of years ago that thing was RAUH-Welt Begriff. As RWB’s popularity soared there was a mad dash for fans who could afford one to have the first RWB Porsche built in their given country.
